At the Department of Molecular Biology we work on various aspects of molecular biology and genetics. There is a wide spectrum of research topics, from regulation of DNA replication and gene expression in bacterial cells, thorough molecular taxonomy of lichens to human genetics (mainly genetic diseases). BSc, MSc and PhD theses performed by student in the Department are connected to one of projects currently realized by us.
We collaborate with many scientific institutions around the world, including National Institutes of Health (USA), University of Sheffield (UK), University of Umea (Sweden), Manchester Children’s Hospital (UK), Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), University of Oulu (Finland), E.-M.-Arndt University (Germany), Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Genetics (Germany) and others.
There is Laboratory of Molecular Biology of Institute of Biochemistry and Biophyscis of Polish Academy of Sciences, which is affiliated with the University of Gdańsk. This Laboratory closely collaborates with our Department, and in fact, it is located inside the Department.
